I have to file annual tax returns for the SQL Saturday charitable foundation with the US IRS each year. We haven’t ever raised more than US$50,000 so this has been a simple postcard filing.

This year was much of the same, but the website changed a little and added more authentication. What was previously a 10 minute job was a 30+ minute frustrating experience. Fortunately, I managed to complete it, so we’re good for now.

Texas randomly asks for attestations of information, and so far they haven’t asked in a few years. I’m grateful for that as dealing with taxes is always a pain.

Reminders

SQL Saturday is an independent US 501.c.3 corporation organized as a public charity. We are not owned by, or managed by Redgate Software. Redgate donated the brand to the corporation and gave us a grant to run events, but there is no oversight of the corporation. Redgate does maintain a permanent seat on the board of directors, currently occupied by Steve Jones, but has no more influence than any of the other members of the board.
